My Path Is Not The Same
Looking through the clouded windows
Dimmed from the smoke of many years
Of desolation
Consolation prize of my life
Fuzzy images facing me, sharpening the focus of this time
I can sit here and keep on dreaming
Keep sitting here fantasizing about what might have been,
Or not
I gotta move on with my life
Stop waiting for my knight in armor.
Stop waiting for that big pay off
Stop waiting for that divine intervention
Stop letting you dictate what’s good for me
I look back and see your history
I look again and see mine, too.
Interwoven, serpentined, broken chains along the way
Yes, you are my friend, but understand
My path is not the same.
Now Glenda, that’s what you say
Now Glenda… I hear it every day.
No, listen here, do you know who I am?
But Glenda… it’s what’s best for you.
I look back and see your history
I look again and see mine too.
Interwoven, serpentined, broken chains along the way
Yes, you are my friend, but understand
My path is not the same.
